Jordi Alba’s future has been in doubt for the past weeks as Luis Enrique implemented his new formation.
The Barcelona manager opted to make the midfield more compact and provide more options in attack. And a system of only three defenders at the back, meaning he used 3-4-3.
One of the defenders to fall victim to this new formation was Jordi Alba. The left-back is a prominent figure when four defenders are used, but the lack of game time was getting frustrating.
Reports emerged this week linking him with a move to PSG, Atletico Madrid and Valencia. Barcelona have a good transfer relationship with Valencia, while his ties with Unai Emery had favored a PSG move.
PSG are also in need of a replacement for Maxwell whose contract is up in June. And the French media was awash with reports linking Alba to Paris.
