Barcelona are really a shadow of their former self and its there’s need to strengthen the team in the summer. One man saddled with the responsibility is Barcelona’s technical director, Robert Fernandez.
Fernandez is in charge of the club’s negotiations and has seen several names being connected to Barcelona. However, the first name he has confirmed is Gerard Deulofeu.
Barcelona confirms they would sign Gerard Deulofeu
Speaking to TV3 after their win with Real Sociedad, he said: “Deulofeu? Yes, he is absolutely an option for the future. The club are considering bringing him back to play for the first team.”
Gerard Deulofeu left Barcelona two years ago permanently, heading to the Premier League to join Everton.
But he first arrived on loan at Goodison Park under Roberto Martinez for the 2013/14 season. And then he headed to Sevilla the next season for another loan spell, before returning back to Everton on a permanent basis in 2015.
Everton paid £4m for him, and he did well, providing some assists for Lukaku to bang in the goals. Deulofeu is currently on a six-month loan with AC Milan after failing to impress Ronald Koeman.
Barcelona have the option of purchasing the player from AC Milan for a cut price of €12 million. After years of development at Everton and now Milan, Deulofeu has greatly improved.
Milan general manager Adriano Galliani admitted: “Deulofeu? I have spoke with Barcelona, but I won’t tell you what they said to me.”
