Speaking with Sport TV+, Andres Iniesta defended Gomes saying: “Andre [Gomes] has a lot of the qualities needed to be an important player at a big club and must keep improving.”

“There is a need to create the perfect climate so that the youngsters who arrive in this team feel good and can evolve.

“[To whistle a player] doesn’t get us anywhere and it’s a mistake to single out the players who have just arrived.

“It isn’t good for those players or for the team.”
