When Lionel Messi’s ban was confirmed, reports began spreading on an ulterior motive behind the ban. Lionel Messi was not the first player to have insulted referees, but you wonder why they decided on such a lengthy ban.
One man who was accused of playing a role is Diego Maradona as revealed by journalist Gonza Stupenengo.
Wilson Seneme played big role in Messi’s FIFA’s suspension
But reports from Argentine newspaper Ole hints at a bigger role played by Wilson Seneme. Seneme is the president of the Committee of Arbitrators of the Conmebol.
FIFA allegedly swung into investigation after receiving a video from an anonymous source. But the report says the video actually came from Seneme.
Recall that the Brazilian referees did not include the incident in the official match report that was submitted. Neither of them spoke of the incident involving Lionel Messi.
But it was only when a call came from Wilson Seneme that things changed. Seneme warned the match referee that he was sending the video to FIFA and asked him to expand his initial report to include the Messi incident.
