Barcelona are among the best teams in the world, but there is still room for improvement in their general performance.
Over the years, the Catalans have struggled defensively and have tried to correct it. Luis Enrique introduced a new 3-4-3 formation, but it has been a frightening experience at the back.
Barcelona have looked completely insecure at the back and against a strong team like Real Madrid, you just wonder how they would cope.
Sky Sports’ Spanish Football Expert, Terry Gibson, has pointed Luis Enrique to towards Chelsea’s direction.
Antonio Conte has also deployed a 3-4-3 system, but has looked very solid at the back.
Terry Gibson says Barcelona need Chelsea’s formation
Gibson told La Liga weekly via Tribal Football: “When you look at Chelsea, if you want to play three at the back – that’s the best template.”
“You’ve got those hard-working attacking full-backs, ex-wingers that have the energy to get up and down and cover the full length of the pitch. That allows you to be so much more flexible.
“Anyway, I always thought Barca played 2-1-2-5 – that was their team. It was two central defenders with Sergio Busquets in front.
“Then they had two central midfield schemers – Xavi and Andres Iniesta – and the two full-backs were playing as wingers, along with the front three.”
