Among the players Barcelona are looking to hang on to is Andres Iniesta. The midfield maestro has been at Barcelona since he was a kid, rising through the ranks from La Masia.

Iniesta is one of the iconic players of Barcelona and represents what Barcelona need in a midfielder. And despite been 32-years and spending more than 20 years at the club, both parties wants the union to continue.

The club is closing in on a new two-year deal that is expected to be announced at the end of the season. And we understand a role in La Masia has been included.

Andres Iniesta talks on his desire to remain at Barcelona

Speaking about his future, Iniesta said: “My intention is to be able to retire here (at Barcelona).”

“What I will never do, though, is remain here just for the sake of remaining here.

“There will never be a problem between Iniesta and Barcelona.”

On their Champions League quarter-final draw, he added: “It’s the same thing every year were strong teams would face each other. We would fight hard with whichever team we are paired.”

He’s one of the most decorated players in both Spain and the world. The Spaniard has won eight La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League wins, a FIFA World Cup and two UEFA European Championship crowns, to name but a few, is quite a haul of major honours.
