Michael Essien was among the toughest midfielders during his glory days. The central midfielder made a name for himself during his 9-year stay at Chelsea.
From 2005 to 2014, Essien won two EPL titles, 4 FA Cups and one Champions League. A move to Real Madrid and then AC Milan followed in the years to come.
But recent times haven’t been good with the ex-Ghana international. His last known club was Panathinaikos, who terminated his contract prematurely.
And since the termination of his contract last year, he has been without a team.
Michael Essien signs for new club Persib Bandung
However, Essien is back in football as Indonesian club Persib Bandung have confirmed his signing today.
He would be wearing the N0 5 jersey and his one-year deal sees him earn around €800,000.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “I hope I am the prelude to other world players moving to Indonesia.”
“Hopefully this is a good beginning for Indonesian football and also for Persib.
“Thank you for bringing me here. I’m excited and want to give my best.”
