The legend that is Otis Livingston II continued to grow last night as he nailed a three-pointer with mere seconds remaining to lift George Mason past Fordham 71-68. Mason is now off to their best start ever since joining the Atlantic 10 at 5-1 in conference play. It certainly wasn’t their best game recently as they trailed at halftime and had numerous turnovers that led to Rams’ buckets. Fordham was making a ton of shots in the second half but Livingston really turned up and essentially took over the game.
A win is win and it was great to see Otis takeover like that after Justin Kier has been the star lately. Kier still led the way with 18 points and 9 rebounds as he continues to make his case for A-10 player of the year. As a team the ball movement was great tonight as we saw a ton of assists (16) and great passes, especially in the paint.
Jarred Reuter had a good game adding eight points and nine rebounds as he continues to get more consistent at the five. He seems to be more settled in his role now than earlier in the year. Jordan Miller got the start again and despite getting into foul trouble, finished with nine points. He continues to be confident out there and can only imagine his minutes will increase.
Defensively they were strong again, Fordham however just made a lot contested shots. I liked the pressure they had for pretty much the entire game. The got some stops when they needed to late in the game to set up the game-winner.
Now comes a huge test on the road at Dayton, who are currently 4-1 and have had the conference’s best offense so far. Mason has certainly been playing better on the road and a win could go a long in locking them into the top four of the A-10.
