Match Preview; Liverpool v Spurs (can we?)
Saturday’s trip to Anfield will be a long drive… Mel and I are leaving at 11 am from Janette’s house. Hopefully, we can find a decent restaurant and get a hearty meal before kick-off. After the game, it will be a three-hour drive back, which will probably mean we will not get home before 1am. It will be a very long day!
Can we do it? Yes! I know Liverpool are on a good run and are up for many trophies, but they are not invincible, and on our day, we can beat anybody. People laughed at me when I said we could beat City, and beat them we did. In Conte, we have a coach that can plot their downfall (at least for this game).
Yes, the scousers will aim to keep the pressure on Manchester City, and everybody and his dog will expect them to beat us… even some of our own supporters.
They sit just one point behind City with four rounds of fixtures left to play.
Liverpool have secured their place in this season’s Champions League final following a 3-2 victory over Villarreal in midweek.
Harry Kane, Son and Dejan Kulusevski will be as great a threat to Liverpool’s unbeaten, league-leading home record this season as any they have faced. However, the Reds do boast a formidable record in this fixture.
Liverpool have lost only one of their last 18 meetings with us, winning 12 of those, while at Anfield, that record extends to no defeats in 10 and just one in their last 27.
We currently sit two points adrift of the Woolwich-Gunners, with a North London derby looming next week.
The Woolwich-Gunners are at home to relegation-threatened Leeds United on Sunday, and the expectancy of a win in that match only increases the pressure on us to get a good result at Anfield.
A draw away to Liverpool, might not be enough for us if Woolwich-Gunners beat Leeds the following day.
We had been scoring for much of this year before back-to-back games where we failed to even have a shot on target against Brighton and Brentford.
However, we are unbeaten against the top two this season, which will act, hopefully, in our favour. This could be Liverpool’s most difficult remaining league game. We beat Man City at home and away and drew 2-2 with Liverpool in the reverse fixture.

We have no new injury concerns to worry about, but we are still contending with a longer list of absentees than our opponents, with the full-back areas, particularly hard hit.
Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga all remain sidelined, while Oliver Skipp is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.
My possible starting lineup:

Thoughts
This is not a match many scousers will be looking forward to. We have the tools to expose their weaknesses, and if they get their high line wrong against Kane and Son, they will be punished more severely than against most teams.
