Kanye West and John Legend have broken up because of Kanye’s support for Donald Trump. When it got “too much to sustain our Fri” for the rapper to support Trump and run for president, the singer stated, John Legend has admitted that his connection with Kanye West is no longer as strong as it once was, and he believes that Donald Trump played a hand in it.
Axelrod’s podcast, “The Axe Files,” recently featured an interview with Legend in which he revealed how the nearly 20-year relationship has deteriorated. As a result of their public disagreements on Trump and his running for governor, “I honestly think that we aren’t friends as much as we used to be,” Legend stated in an interview.

Legend texted West in April 2018 to chastise him for his support of Trump, telling the rapper:
“So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause, especially to people of color. Don’t let this be part of your legacy.”
Moreover, according to legend, West was angry at him for not endorsing West’s failed presidential bid in 2020. Axelrod pointed out that he wasn’t the only one who noticed this. “I wasn’t the only one, but, you know, he wasn’t happy about it. That was a long time ago,” Legend recalled. Friendship.”
