The Broncos have a recipe for success

It involves a big game from Phillip Lindsay, obviously.

If there’s a theme in Broncos Country right now, it has to be, “FEED PHIL!”

After the Denver Broncos pulled off the upset over the Miami Dolphins, they will have a much bigger test with the New Orleans Saints. It has become apparent that the Broncos have a recipe for success, and Phillip Lindsay is a huge part of that.

It has been noted across all of Broncos Country that Lindsay is the Broncos offensive spark plug. As Ian St. Clair and I discussed on the MHR Radio Podcast, Lindsay’s workload is often a key to the team’s success.

That’s an impressive stat, but the Saints are a different challenge. They have one of the best defenses in the NFL. They are among the favorites in the NFC to reach the Super Bowl. They have one of the best head coaches in the NFL. Their offense is filled with weapons.

And if you thought Drew Brees being out would help, along comes Taysom Hill. He seemed to have no problem running Sean Payton’s offense. It helps to have weapons like Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, and one of the best offensive play callers in the NFL.

The Broncos defense has been one of the only things keeping them in games this season. That task only grows harder when the Saints come to town.

Add to that the struggles of AJ Bouye. He has been dealing with injuries, and it has not been a great first season in Denver for him. If the Broncos want to hold the Saints offense in check, Bouye will have to play well.

Bryce Callahan has been excellent this season. If Bouye can match that, it could be key to the Broncos being able to bottle up New Orleans.

It’s not like many people will be betting on the Broncos to win this game. That doesn’t mean they won’t have their chances. Drew Lock will have to execute Pat Shurmur’s game plan, and utilize his weapons to put points on the board.

It’s hard to realistically see a scenario where the Broncos can come away with a win. If Hill comes back to earth, and struggles, it’s possible.

The Broncos’ win against the Dolphins was a great way to get back on track. If they can build on that, they have a chance to steal another win, and stay in the playoff hunt. It’s a slim chance, but it’s there.
