The Broncos found a way to lose another game in the final seconds. The good news is we’re halfway through the season.

At least we know when the Denver Broncos are in a close game, they’ll find a way to lose.

The latest stop in the 2019 “world of suck” tour is a 15-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts (5-2). For the third time this season, the Broncos (2-6) see a team drive down the field for a game-winning field goal.

The good news is we’re now halfway through the season. With the trade deadline set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, does this mean John Elway and Denver deal some of the other veterans?

Winners

Courtland Sutton

Sutton only had three catches for 72 yards, but it’s clear he’s the No. 1 receiver for the Broncos. I love the passion he plays with, and he’s going to be fun to watch over the course of his career.

Phillip Lindsay/Royce Freeman

The one-two punch of Lindsay and Freeman did their job on Sunday. As a team, Denver had 113 yards rushing on 28 carries and Freeman had the lone touchdown. The two also combined for six catches for 22 yards.

Dalton Risner

In a game where the hype was about the Colts’ left guard, Risner was equal to the task. As with Sutton, I love how Risner plays the game.

Von Miller

This was the type of game we’re accustomed to seeing from Miller. The Broncos edge finished with 1.5 sacks, six tackles, three tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits. And I don’t want to hear shit about the play in the end zone as anything on Miller. Tip your cap to Jacoby Brissett for an incredible play and leave it at that.

Derek Wolfe

Helluva game by Denver’s veteran defensive lineman. Wolfe had two sacks, three tackles, one tackle for loss and two quarterback hits. Could this be the last game we see Wolfe play for the Broncos?

Justin Simmons

Simmons had himself another great game. In the process, Denver’s safety is becoming a leader on defense. Simmons finished with seven tackles and one pass defended.

Brandon McManus

McManus made both of his field goals and his lone extra point. He was back to being McMoney on Sunday.

Losers

I’m tired of singling out individuals for where this team is and how far it’s fallen. Denver is 2-6 and in position to have its third-straight losing season because of the “team.” The Broncos just don’t know how to win games anymore. Denver hasn’t been this bad since the 1960s and early ‘70s. For the experienced fans, this must be a traumatic flashback. For the younger fans, this is new territory and it sucks. It’s obvious things need to change, but the people responsible have to admit they need to or the status quo will remain.
