HT: Broncos want fans to start the regular season with an ‘Orange Sunday’

The Denver Broncos are encouraging fans to kickoff the regular season with an ‘Orange Sunday’. We’ll probably oblige...

The Denver Broncos want Broncos Country to kick off the regular season with an ‘Orange Sunday’, so if you have Broncos gear and are going to the game it had better be bright orange in color!

The team will also be honoring first responders throughout the game with a special flag football pregame show between the Law Enforcement Team and the Fire/Rescue Team. For fans in attendance, that should be one of the pregame highlights for sure.

Broncos alumni Karl Mecklenburg and Reuben Droughns will coach the cops, while Rod Smith and Ebenezer Ekuban will coach up the fire and rescue squads.

To make the orange even more orange-y, the Broncos will be handing out orange towels made from recycled materials to fans in an effort to raise awareness towards the environment and recycling.

“The Denver Broncos and Coca-Cola are teaming up to show fans the value of recycling,” Antionette Williams, a spokesperson for the event said. “Recycling is the first step, but Coca-Cola and the Broncos want to create a “Life-Cycle” story and make sure once the bottles are recycled they continue on a sustainable path.”

All that pomp and fluff aside, I love the idea of an ‘Orange Sunday’ and think every Sunday should be one. I also love the respect being paid to those brave men and women who are the first to respond to a crisis.

Good stuff. Oh, and let’s not forget the most important part. Beat the Seahawks!
