The Giants have added to their pass defense and passing offense with their first two picks. They break the tie with their third pick.
So far the New York Giants have added a pair of athletic and hard working players in Eli Apple and Sterling Shepard -- though the latter has been much better received by fans than the former.

Thompson signifies a concerted effort to shore up the Giants' pass defense. So far the Giants have retained Jason Pierre-Paul and added Olivier Vernon to harass quarterbacks while adding Janoris Jenkins, Eli Apple, and Darian Thompson to keep the ball in quarterbacks' hands.
Thompson brings good size at 6-foot-2, 208 pounds, outstanding coverage in zone schemes, and the ability to roam the middle of the field. He also has impressive instincts and ball skills, coming away with 19 interceptions in his four years at Boise State -- 11 in his last two years.
Thompson had a disappointing combine workout, later attributed to a stomach virus that hit many prospects and NFL representatives that week, but he made up for it with an improved performance at his pro day.
He also has an aggressive attitude, which gets him into trouble at times, particularly when he fails to make a technically sound tackle, but it also helps him come away with interceptions.
If the Giants' pass rush can get pressure on opposing passers, having ballhawks like Jenkins, DRC, and Thompson in the defensive secondary could feast on errant passes.
