2016 NFL Draft: Final mock draft for Big Blue View staff members

The staff at Big Blue View puts down their final first round mock drafts before the 2016 NFL draft.

Welcome to Big Blue View's final, and definitive, mock draft of 2016!

If you've been reading for a few years, you will be familiar with the concept for this mock. In previous years Jesse, Invictus, and I (or some handsome and brilliant guy going by the name of "Raptor") each put our final mock drafts on the line to see who had the most correct picks, and who correctly picked the most first rounders.

This year we're expanding things somewhat, with Alex, Ed, Keane, and Stephen joining the party.

So, without further ado -- and before some team goes and makes ANOTHER trade that blows all our mock drafts to smithereens -- let's get to the last, final, ultimate mock drafts of 2016.

Giants' Picks

Keane Macadaeg -- Hardly a bold pick, Leonard Floyd has long been projected for the 10th overall pick. Not going to lie, I really disliked the idea of it. Now looking at it more, it would be a fine selection. 4-3 OLBs aren't taken that high often, but it isn't because the position has no value, it's that the talent is very rare. Floyd can do it all, he's a natural pass rusher who has the athletic ability to excel in coverage. Steve Spagnuolo would have a field day using this guy in blitz packages.

Stephen Milewski -- Myles Jack is the young building block the Giants' linebacking core needs. Devon Kennard is a solid player, but too often injured. It seems as though there will be a revolving door of veterans at linebacker with Keenan Robinson, Kelvin Sheppard, Jasper Brinkley, J.T. Thomas and Jonathan Casillas. Jack's injury and how it could affect his career outlook gives me a little bit of pause, but I think he is the type of playmaker that could be inserted on the weak side or in the middle and make the Giants defense dominant again. I considered Leonard Floyd and Jack Conklin as well, two players the Giants are reportedly very high on, but I think Myles Jack is too gifted a football player to pass up.

Alex Sinclair -- I chose Jack Conklin because he seems like the slightly left of center offensive lineman that the Giants have tended to favor in recent years. He may not be the most prototypical guy in the class, but when you watch the tape, he gets the job done. He would be an immediate improvement at either right tackle or right guard, which may raise an interesting inter-positional camp battle between John Jerry, Marshall Newhouse and Bobby Hart as to who is the least of a liability on the field regardless of where they line up. That can only be a good thing for the Giants, and it would lock down four out of five starters on that line for potentially the next decade.

Jesse Bartolis -- Is Myles Jack available and what is their medical on him? If Jack is not available did one of the top defensive players fall here like Buckner or Bosa? If not I think the most likely choices for the Giants are Vernon Hargreaves to eventually replace DRC and also to provide a nickel cornerback right now. Trevin Wade was a good fill-in for the Giants last year, but that position needs to be upgrade.

If Hargreaves goes to the Buccaneers (or the Browns really need a CB as well), I think Leonard Floyd makes a ton of sense. The Giants have been craving a long, athletic, linebacker who could disrupt the passer and also cover tight ends and running backs which have been critical issues for the team for over a decade now. Floyd is considered a risky prospect, but I actually think he's one of the safer prospects in the draft. What other prospect has top-level athleticism, high character, clean bill of health, and good production at a major school? Floyd has versatility to be something in the NFL. Even if he's not a perennial Pro Bowler or All-Pro type, he should be a Manny Lawson type 10-year starter. But if you really hit on Floyd he could be Aldon Smith type rusher. Floyd is a player the NFL has loved the entire process and I don't think he makes it past the Bears at 11.

I think also in play are Laquon Treadwell, Jack Conklin, and Ezekiel Elliott, but only if Jack's medicals are negative and their top defensive targets are not available (Hargreaves and Floyd).

InvictusXI -- Do I think the Giants take Laquon Treadwell at 10? No, I don't. I do think that if both Vernon Hargreaves and Leonard Floyd are off the board, the Giants will strongly consider trading down and taking him at 15. And consider that if both Ronnie Stanley and Jack Conklin are available at 10 that will give the Titans ample inspiration to make things happen. The Giants and Titans made a draft day trade in 2015 so the Giants could land Landon Collins, perhaps there's some more magic here. We know that Jerry Reese likes wide receivers. They are a premium position. Rueben Randle got 217 targets the last two seasons. That's 100+ targets a season with Odell Beckham opposite you. That's a massive part of the offense and right now is slated to be filled by Victor Cruz, who hasn't played since October 2014, or Dwayne Harris. The Giants are cognizant of this. Everybody talks about Jerry Reese attending Leonard Floyd's pro day. He also attended Laquon Treadwell's. Treadwell may not have the raw speed that you want, but he's got the hands, the route running, the power, the run blocking, the intelligence, and most importantly the passion that you want from a superstar. The Giants are in desperate need of those.

Ed Valentine - When it comes to the first round of the draft, anyone who tells you they know exactly what will happen in the first 10 picks is living in The Land of Make Believe. No one can tell you with any certainty what happen in the nine picks before the Giants get their turn on Thursday.

What I believe is that there is too much talk connecting the Giants and Leonard Floyd for the team not to have real interest in making him their first-round selection. To me, he would bring a level of athleticism and edge-rushing potential the Giants have not had from a linebacker since the days of Jessie Armstead.

In this scenario, I passed on Myles Jack. Could the Giants select Jack? Certainly, but they aren't going to tell us what they think of Jack's knee so, for now, I'm going to say they won't take the risk.

There are lots of other ways the 10th pick could pan out for the Giants -- a corner, an offensive tackle, a wide receiver, a trade down being just a few of the myriad of possibilities. I am, however, entering Thursday night believing that Floyd is Plan A.

Chris Pflum -- Okay, I cheated. Just a bit. I could certainly see the Giants drafting Ronnie Stanley, especially if the draft fell this way. However, I'm actually envisioning a trade down with the Tennessee Titans, who jump up to get the last "top tier" offensive tackle available. Moving down to 15th overall, the Giants draft Laquon Treadwell who's physicality and ability to use his quickness, physicality, and ability to separate using his route running make him a good fit for the Giants' offense, and a great counterpoint (or punch, which is probably a more apt description) to Odell Beckham. Every time the Giants have needed a wide receiver, Jerry Reese has drafted one highly.
