Giants roster cuts 2018: WR Roger Lewis, S Andrew Adams released

Two young players from the previous regime are being let go

Two young players who at varying times over the past couple of seasons had relatively large roles with the New York Giants have reportedly been let go. Wide receiver Roger Lewis Jr. and safety Andrew Adams will not be part of the team’s 53-man roster, per a variety of published reports.

Lewis had 36 catches last season, fourth on the team, sometimes even functioning as the Giants nominal No. 1 wide receiver with Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard and Dwayne Harris all injured.

It has been apparent since the spring that Lewis was behind in the competition for wide receiver spots. He didn’t get nearly as many reps as several other receivers fighting for spots.

Adams began training camp in competition for a starting spot at safety. It became increasingly apparent, though, that the Giants wanted a free safety with better coverage skills.

The Giants also cut cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris, which could be good news for undrafted rookie Grant Haley.
