Nat Berhe out, Ryan Murphy promoted from practice squad
New York Giants head coach Steve Spagnuolo said earlier in the week that the Giants might have to shut Landon Collins (ankle) down for at least this week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles to protect him from himself. It looks as if the Giants might be following through on that as Collins is listed as doubtful for Sunday.
“It’s (being protected from himself) a little bit of a compliment because I mean for myself and the competitor that I am, if I know I can play, if I feel like I can play or I can do something, I’m going to do it,” Collins said. “What Spags said, I took it as a compliment because I would feel like I’m letting my boys down if I’m not on the field with them and that hurts me more than anything.”
If he doesn’t play, this will be the first game Collins misses in his three-year career. Collins played through a high ankle sprain earlier in the season and said this week that the new injury, suffered while chasing a play last Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, is to the same ankle.
Safety Nat Berhe (hamstring) is the only player listed as OUT. With Collins and Berhe both hurting, the Giants on Friday promoted safety Ryan Murphy from the practice squad to fill the final vacant spot on their 53-man roster.
