Giants-Eagles by the numbers: Eagles favored by 7.5 points

Odds and other numbers to know for Sunday

The New York Giants are 7.5-point underdogs to the Philadelphia Eagles for this Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium. It’s a line that feels kind to the Giants, and perhaps is only because Nick Foles will be at quarterback for Philly instead of Carson Wentz.

Here are some of the numbers that matter heading into Sunday.

9

The Giants are 2-11, nine games under .500. The Eagles are 11-2, nine games over .500. This will be the first Giants game in which one team is at least nine games over .500 and the other is at least nine games under since Dec. 30, 1990, when the 12-3 Giants faced the 1-14 Patriots in New England. The Giants won, 13-10, in their final regular-season game on the way to winning Super Bowl XXV.

The last such NFL game was played on Dec. 30, 2012, when the Denver Broncos (12-3) hosted the Kansas City Chiefs (2-13). Denver routed the Chiefs, 38-3.

The last time a team at least nine games under .500 defeated a team at least nine games over was on Dec. 27, 2009, when the 2-12 Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the 13-1 New Orleans Saints, 20-17. The Saints went on to win the super Bowl.

237

That is the fewest points the Giants have scored in a 16-game season, a mark for futility the team set in 1979. They currently have 199, and will have to average 13.0 points per game over their final three games to tie that mark. In the last three games started by Eli Manning, who will start on Sunday vs. the Eagles, the Giants have averaged 9.7 points per game.

11

That’s the number of catches Evan Engram needs to move into third-place among rookies in franchise history. He currently has 55, and Sterling Shepard is third on the all-time list with 65. Odell Beckham Jr. (91 in 2014) and Jeremy Shockey (74 in 2002) top the list.

623

Engram’s total receiving yards. He is third among rookies and fifth among all tight ends.

216

The record for most games played as a Giant, held by Michael Strahan. Manning will tie Strahan if he plays in the Giants’ final three games.

4.5

The career-high sack total for Devon Kennard, which he established in his rookie season. Kennard has 3 sacks this season.

4

That’s the number of Giants from USC — Kevon Kennard, Chad Wheeler, Rhett Ellison, Damien Mama.

2-0

Yeah, that’s two numbers. I know. It’s Nick Foles’ career record in starts against the Giants.
