The Giants could be getting a weapon back on offense

Though they don’t practice fully on Fridays, the New York Giants have released their Injury report. Some of their best players have already been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Giants have ruled out:

DE Olivier Vernon (ankle)

OC Weston Richburg (concussion)

OLB Jonathan Casillas (neck)

RB Paul Perkins (ribs)

LB Calvin Munson (quad)

Vernon will miss his third straight game, which is particularly significant considering the Giants placed backup DE Romeo Okwara on injured reserve this week. That likely means that Kerry Wynn will get the start while rookie Avery Moss will see an increased workload. The Giants could also use Devon Kennard and Cap Capi as rotational ends.

The continued absence of Richburg means that the Giants will get another look at center Brett Jones, who performed well against the Denver Broncos last week. The loss of Casillas and Munson will stretch the linebacking corps paper-thin.

In one sliver of good news on the injury front, the Giants are listing receiver Sterling Shepard as “questionable” as he works his way back from his ankle injury. After the Giants’ receiving corps made just two catches on six targets against Denver, getting back Shepard — who was the most productive slot receiver in the NFL prior to his injury — could be a much-needed boost to the passing game.
