Breaking: Will Tye Claimed Off Waivers By Jets

Tye stays in the Meadowlands

It seemed a foregone conclusion that the New York Giants would be parting ways with Will Tye.

The former starting Tight end was simply outplayed by Rhett Ellison, Evan Engram, Jerell Adams, and Matt LaCosse as the Giants sought to upgrade the tight end position. He wasn’t without a job for long, however, as reports indicate he was claimed off the waiver wire by the New York Jets.

The Jets badly need a capable tight end (and receiving options in general) after releasing Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, and the neck injury suffered by Quincy Enunwa. Tye has experience, starting 17 games and playing in 26 in his time with the Giants.

Tye is not the first former Giants’ tight end to find himself a Jet, with Matt LaCosse, Adrien Robininson, and Jerome Cunningham all finding their way to the Jets’ locker room after being waived by the Giants.

Hopefully, Tye will find the success it looked as though he was headed toward after his impressive rookie season.
