Report: Owa Odighizuwa Is Not At Giants Mini-Camp

The third-year defensive end is still not at the Giants’ facilities

One of the storylines surrounding the New York Giants’ offseason program has been the mysterious absence of third-year defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa.

Jordan Ranaan of ESPN is reporting that Odighizuwa is not at the Giants’ mandatory mini-camp.

This comes after a series of cryptic tweets regarding a need to step away from football at the beginning of the off-season. Odighizuwa was at the opening of the Giants’ offseason program, but has been absent from their ten organized team activities (OTAs).

While the OTAs are all voluntary, mini-camp is not. Odighizuwa could be subject to more than $80,000 in fines if he misses all three days. The reason for his continued absence is a complete unknown, and the Giants’ coaches and front office personnel have thus far refused to shed light on the situation. Owner John Mara did say that he does not believe that Odighizuwa is done with football.

Until we know more, I can only echo Ed’s thoughts from this morning and hope that Owa, and his family, are all OK.
