TC at 21, Tuna is No. 7

Bleacher Report came out with their ‘Best Coaches in NFL History’ list Monday and two former New York Giants head coaches made the list. Tom Coughlin and Bill Parcells came in at No. 21 and No. 7 respectively.

Coughlin was the head coach for the Giants for 12 seasons, posting a 192-102 record. In the playoffs he was just as good, with a 8-3 record. He brought New York two Super Bowl titles, both over the New England Patriots. In his 20-year coaching career, Coughlin has a 320-170 record between the Giants and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

From Jacksonville, it was off to the Giants, where Coughlin won a pair of Super Bowls by beating one of the greatest teams in NFL history with the kind of talent that usually loses a Wild Card Game.

Parcells was the head coach of the Giants for eight seasons, posting a 127-77 record. Parcells posted the same record in the playoffs as Coughlin, with an 8-3 mark. He also brought Big Blue two Super Bowl titles. In his 19-year coaching career, Parcells coached to a 303-172 record between the Giants, Cowboys, Patriots and the Jets.

The Giants were one of the worst franchises in the NFL. They had reached the playoffs once in the previous 20 seasons. Bill Parcells rose from defensive coordinator to head coach, and the Giants soon won two Super Bowls and became a perennial powerhouse.

Over their tenure’s as head coaches of the Giants, Parcells and Coughlin brought the Giants a combined four Super Bowl titles and much more. But, will we see Ben McAdoo on a list like this following his career as the Giants head coach? Only time will tell.
