Former Broncos’ QB Paxton Lynch works out for the Dolphins on Wednesday

According to multiple reports, the 24-year old quarterback worked out for the Dolphins on Wednesday morning.

It is no secret, that NFL teams use the BYE to get healthy and make changes throughout the roster. So it is no surprise that the 5-5 Miami Dolphins are doing their due diligence, working out several players that could have an impact during the second half of the season.

Earlier today, the Dolphins signed former Cowboys’ Wide Receiver Brice Butler. But what wasn’t reported until later in the day, is that a former first-round pick was also working out for the team.

According to Howard Balzer, the Dolphins worked out the following players, including former Denver Broncos’ Quarterback, Paxton Lynch.

Lynch, 24, was the 26th-overall pick in the 2016 draft. During his time with the Broncos, Lynch appeared in five games. He completed 79 of 128 pass attempts for 792 yards, 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Although it is unclear whether or not the Dolphins plan to offer Paxton Lynch a contract, the news isn’t very compelling for backup quarterback David Fales. It could also spell trouble for Ryan Tannehill and his shoulder. The team had hoped Tannehll would throw during the BYE and be cleared to play in time for Miami’s Week 12 game vs Indy. This appears more and more unlikely by the day.

In the end, the Dolphins are doing everything they can to improve during the BYE, and help turn things around for the second half of the season. At 5-5, the Dolphins are just outside of the AFC Wildcard.

Time will tell, but the Dolphins are still very much in the playoff hunt.
