Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey appears to have received positive results from his latest tests on his surgically repaired hip. Pouncey was meeting with doctors on Tuesday in an attempt to receive clearance to return to football activities as the Dolphins report to training camp on Wednesday.

Pouncey’s chronic hip issues flared again last season, with his 2016 campaign ending in November with just five games played during the year. It ended a streak of three straight Pro Bowl appearances for Pouncey and frustrated the center all season - and all offseason.

Tuesday night, Pouncey posted on Instgram a picture of himself during player introductions at Hard Rock Stadium with the caption, “When you get the news you’ve been waiting for!!!! God is good! #16+”

The Dolphins and Pouncey are on a mission this year to keep the veteran healthy for the entire year - playing 16+ games. Pouncey last played in all 16 games in a regular season in 2012, his second year in the league.

Head coach Adam Gase spoke about Pouncey on Tuesday during his pre-training camp Press Conference. He explained the plans for Pouncey during camp, telling the media, “We have a whole bunch of different scenarios right now that could possibly come up after we get more information today. Working with our guys that have been dealing with him, we’ve put together all of these different contingency plans as far as ‘Alright, he can do individual, and then we can do practice, and here’s his rest day.’ We’re waiting to hear where we’re at and then we’ll go from there.”

He continued, updating Pouncey’s status since the coach’s last press conference at minicamp, “He’s been able to run. I mean he’s doing everything that you need to do to be able to show that he’s in good shape and feeling good and feeling stronger. Really, now it’s that final checkup to see exactly where we’re at and once we get those results, we’ll be able to move forward after that.”

It seems that the results of that final checkup were positive, and Pouncey is ready to get back to work.
