Manchester City’s young striker Kelechi Iheanacho has stated that he will do everything in his power to down cross-town rivals Manchester United in next weekend’s highly anticipated derby fixture “There can only be one winner and it has to be Man City.”.
The Nigerian youngster has shown some incredible glimpses of ability so far this season and also made an impression last term under Manuel Pellegrini.
Iheanacho looks set to start for City at Old Trafford next week as Sergio Aguero is unavailable for the game after being handed a three-match ban for elbowing Winston Reid in the side’s victory over West Ham last weekend.
The young attacker has stated that he will do everything in his power to make an impression against Jose Mourinho’s men and that the visitors are heading across town with three points as their major objective.
“Sergio’s suspension is a big loss but we have a lot of big players to turn to,” he told The Sun.
“If I get picked I’m going to do my job. Games like this mean a lot and it doesn’t come bigger than a derby.
“The Premier League is highly competitive and getting three points at Old Trafford will be a perfect start to the campaign.
“They are playing at home but in football you don’t let that bother you. I was there last season — it ended in a draw — so I know what to expect.
“There can only be one winner and it has to be Man City.”
Both sides have started the new campaign with three wins apiece, with the duo expected to be battling for the Premier League title come May.
The game will be a mouthwatering reunion for old foes Mourinho and Pep Guardiola on the touchline.
