The Linc - Malcolm Jenkins is still helping the Eagles

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

New Eagles Safety Will Parks Trained With Malcolm Jenkins This Week - NBC Philadelphia
Will Parks, the newcomer to the Eagles, says he trained recently with Malcolm Jenkins, the former Eagle who is staying in Philadelphia during the pandemic. NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark talked with Parks about the experience. [BLG Note: Will Parks said “It was just awesome, man, at that position, being able to teach me so many different things in the span of two hours.]

Eagles’ (Worst) Mount Rushmore: Chip Kelly era - BGN
I always blamed Chip for what happened with DeMarco Murray more than I blame Murray. He wasn’t used correctly. Murray hated Philadelphia and no one was sad to see him go in 2016. Crying on a plane to Jeff Lurie, he lost 12 yards on one carry as an Eagle and his famous death stare at Sammy Sleeves basically saying “Why did I let you talk me into this” are my favorite moments.

A look at the success of NFL quarterbacks in 4th and long situations - PhillyVoice
From a viewer enjoyment perspective, it feels like a no-brainer to me. When the receiving team knows an onsides kick is coming, there’s almost nothing fun about it. Even on the now very unlikely chance the kicking team recovers the onsides kick, it’s almost always just a pile-up, while the viewer waits for the officials to signal who has the ball. I mean, what’s fun about that? A 4th and 15 scenario is so much more dramatic, and puts the game in the hands of players that fans actually care about, as opposed to special teamers. From the Eagles’ perspective, theoretically they would benefit from this rule change, as they employ a quarterback with a rifle arm capable of making tough throws down the field. Of course, the rebuttal would surely be, “But the Eagles give up a ton of long first downs with that dumb sticks defense,” an idea that was factually debunked by the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane.

Why the Eagles need to sign free agent LeSean McCoy - NBCSP
In his only season with the Chiefs, he was eighth among all NFL running backs eight games into the season with a 5.3 average on about eight carries a game. Then he had a costly fumble that may have cost the Chiefs a game against the Packers, the Chiefs’ last loss of the season. The next week he got just three carries and Damien Williams ran for 125 yards with a 91-yard TD. Williams established himself as the lead back, then the Chiefs signed Spencer Ware, and Shady got only 32 carries the rest of the year, played just one snap in the postseason and was inactive for the Super Bowl. But taken as a whole, 2019 was an encouraging year for Shady. He showed he can still play at a high level when used the right way.

Should teams keep a backup quarterback in quarantine? - PFT
Even though the players on the team who continue to test positively toward negative would still be eligible to practice and play, it would be very difficult to win without a quarterback on the roster. So how about this idea, which is based on a question from a reader named Wayne: Every franchise would have a quarterback under contract who is kept away from the team entirely and completely until a need for his services arises. It makes plenty of sense for every team to have, essentially, a quarantined quarterback. Someone who is part of the team but not part of the team. Someone who is generally isolated from society in the event that the worst-case scenario happens for a given team’s depth chart.

Like with Amari Cooper, Jamal Adams is worth the high-cost trade - Blogging The Boys
However, as Gary Myers pointed out, the Cowboys are only $5.6 million under the cap, with Dak Prescott’s franchise tag taking up a large chunk of that space. In order to give Adams a long-term contract extension upon trading for him, Dallas would likely need to first clear up space by extending Prescott. If the front office really does want Adams, that gives Dak’s camp that much more leverage.

Eli Manning joins Twitter - Big Blue View
Eli Manning now has a new outlet to keep him occupied during retirement: Twitter. The two-time Super Bowl MVP officially created a Twitter account after being absent on the platform since it was founded. Manning’s paraphrased Jimmy Chitwood from the movie “Hoosiers” in his inaugural tweet.
