How the NFL is working to expand the number of Female Coaches - ESPNW
In early March, the Bucs became the first team in NFL history to hire two full-time female coaches in assistant defensive line coach Lori Locust and assistant strength and conditioning coach Maral Javadifar. That came less than four years after Arians made history by hiring the first female coach, Jen Welter, as a training camp intern in 2015. Since then, the NFL has slowly been opening its doors to more female coaches. In the four years since Welter broke the barrier, 10 NFL coaches have hired women as interns or full-time coaches. ”It’s our responsibility now to continue to find and develop that talent pool that’s out there,” Locust told ESPN. “I talked to a lot of people about this. The last thing we want to do collectively is be looked at as not credible or not earning this opportunity. And I think that’s where the responsibility is right now.” Last season, the NFL had 10 female coaches -- three full-time and seven interns. That was twice as many as in 2017 and 1,000 percent growth from four years ago, when Welter was the only woman coaching in the league. [BLG Note: Doug Pederson had the following to say about female coaches back at the NFL owners meetings — “That’s what you’re seeing in professional sports. … I think it’s a great opportunity for them, and they have to go through the process just like hiring a male coach. So if someone’s qualified to handle a position, then I would be all for it. Right now my staff’s full, obviously, but I’m encouraged with the direction the league is moving.”]

However, if I were to throw a dart at a player who could intrigue them either late in the draft or in the undrafted free agency portion of the draft, it would be Donald Parham of Stetson University (of Ray Finkle fame, class of 1980). Parham is 6’8, 243, with 36 1/8” arms and 10 1/2” hands who caught 85 passes in 2018 for 1319 yards and 13 TDs.

Clelin Ferrell: EDGE, Clemson. Ferrell isn’t a thrilling player, but he’s a fine and well-rounded one, who should immediately step in as a starter regardless of the scheme that selects him. Ferrell’s at his best with his hand in the dirt, and often wins in the first three steps with great initial hand usage, multiple inside counters, and a wonderful feel for timing and space. Dude’s as smart of a rusher as you’ll see come out of college. Ferrell’s a little stiff, and tested like an average athlete, so he’s not a high ceiling player and might be better served as the EDGE2 on his future squad. But you need two guys who can get after the quarterback anyway, so he has a lot of value.

Eagles NFL draft options at No. 25: DT Ed Oliver - NBCSP
Oliver might need to put on some more weight to last in the NFL, but you just can’t overlook his athleticism and ability to get after the passer from an interior defensive line spot. Interior line pressure has become more vital in the NFL in recent years and Oliver projects to be a great pass-rusher. There was that silly jacket incident at Houston and teams probably wanted to sit down and talk with Oliver to get to know him as a person. The tape speaks to what kind of player he is. He had good production at Houston and eye-popping ability. For a while, it looked like Oliver was set to take a tumble in the first round, but now that’s harder to imagine. If Oliver starts to make it past 10 and into the mid teens, the Eagles need to make a call to see how much it would take.

“Russ wants New York,” Mathieu wrote. “But you ain’t heard that from T.” But we just did hear that from T, and while it would be easy to blow this off as a late-night tweet from a player who’s in no position to know the facts, Mathieu has spoken many times of how much respect he has for Wilson. It seems unlikely that Mathieu would go off half-cocked about a player he respects so much. And, of course, Mathieu is far from the first person to suggest a Wilson-New York link. Rumors of Wilson eventually joining the Giants have been discussed many times this offseason. Wilson joining New York’s other team, the Jets, won’t happen because the Jets have Sam Darnold, but the Giants will be moving on from Eli Manning sooner rather than later.

Redskins LB Reuben Foster fined two game checks, but not suspended by the NFL - Hogs Haven
The NFL announced today that Redskins LB Reuben Foster will be fined two games, but will not face any suspension for his domestic violence arrest last year. All charges were dropped in this case. Foster was on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List and missed the final 5 games of the 2018 sesson. The 49ers released Foster after the incident occurred at the team’s hotel. The Redskins claimed him on waiver’s in hopes of acquiring the talented young linebacker.

Kim Miale isn’t just making her mark as one of the few women in the sports agency world. She’s making history, too. During the 2018 NFL Draft, her client Saquon Barkley went No. 2 overall to the New York Giants, the highest a player represented by a woman has ever been selected. But her work doesn’t stop there. She’s also currently the agent for players like Pittsburgh’s JuJu Smith-Schuster, Dez Bryant, Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, Seahawks running back C.J. Prosise, and Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell. Roc Nation also represents the Rams’ Todd Gurley, and Jacksonville’s Leonard Fournette. Roc Nation encourages agents to focus on a select few clients per draft class. Last year, it was Barkley, who went on to win the NFL’s offensive rookie of the year award following his 2,028-yard, 15-touchdown season. In her sixth year of working at Roc Nation, Miale will be representing Stanford running back Bryce Love.
