Report: Former Eagles cornerback facing 4-game suspension

Bad news for the Philadelphia native.

Former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Daryl Worley is facing a four-game suspension without pay to begin the 2018 NFL season, according to a report from ESPN’s Josina Anderson. The suspension is subject to appeal.

Worley is being disciplined for his arrest in South Philly earlier this year. The 23-year-old Philadelphia native was found guilty on charges of driving under the influence, carrying firearms in public, and resisting arrest. It was learned earlier this month that Worley is facing two years of probation. Now he’s facing punishment from the NFL as well.

It sure has been an eventful offseason for Worley. He was traded to his hometown team when the Eagles sent Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for him. Then the Eagles cut him not long after his arrest was first reported. After clearing waivers, Worley signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent.

Worley seems to be having some success at his new landing spot. From SB Nation’s Raiders site, Silver And Black Pride:

Worley has been very impressive since the Raiders signed him following his release by the Eagles. He has been solid depth and even worked with the starters in place of Gareon Conley at times. He did not play in tonight’s preseason game, in part because he will not be among those the team will have to make a tough decision in two days. His fate is sealed for the first four games and will likely be brought back into the fold after that.

We’ll see if Worley’s appeal is successful or not.
