The Linc - Brent Celek says he’ll return to the Eagles in some capacity in the future

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 3/18/18.

Let's get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Brent Celek Guarantees He’ll Return to Eagles in Emotional Goodbye to Philly - TMZ
Eagles star Brent Celek is taking a line from “Terminator” in his heartfelt farewell to Philly -- telling fans not to be sad about him getting released ‘cause, “I’ll be back.” Brent -- who missed only 1 regular-season game in 11 SEASONS with the team -- says he’s not 100% on continuing his playing career ... but no matter if it’s on the field or off, he’s gonna fly with the Super Bowl LII champs in the future. ”One day I’ll be back with the Eagles in some capacity,” Celek told TMZ Sports. ”When -- who knows? But, I love that organization ... I owe it to ‘em.”

The Eagles just defeated the Vikings for the second time in 2018 - BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles have been a big source of misery for Minnesota Vikings fans in 2018. As if absolutely demolishing the Vikings by a final score of 38 to 7 in the NFC Championship Game wasn’t enough, the Eagles then went on to win the Super Bowl in Minnesota’s home stadium. That must have been tough for Minnesotans to watch. Unfortunately for the Vikings, they’re still not done taking losses. Just check out what the Eagles’ official Twitter account did to them on Saturday morning.

More Green Garbage - Daily Norseman
[BLG Note: Vikings fans are still the sorest of losers.]

The Eagles’ five biggest offseason needs, updated - PhillyVoice
We listed tight end a month ago on the premise that the Eagles were likely to be without both Trey Burton and Brent Celek in 2018. Now that Burton and Celek are indeed both off the roster, the Eagles are going to have a find a tight end or two to back up Zach Ertz. Expect the Eagles to find a cheap veteran tight end with experience on the open market, and look for them to also select one in a deep tight end class in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Chalk Talk: Michael Bennett’s Impact - PE.com
Danny Kelly from the Ringer discusses the impact of Michael Bennett on this Eagles defensive line.

Should the Eagles take a RB at 32? - NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Eagles’ running back situation is murky going forward. LeGarrette Blount has found a new home. Jay Ajayi will have an enormous role in this offense, but is only signed through 2018. Corey Clement will likely take on a bigger role after he proved himself as a pass catcher and, more importantly, a pass protector. Kenjon Barner’s value is strictly as a returner, a need the Eagles may look to address elsewhere. Then there’s former mid-round picks Wendell Smallwood and Donnel Pumphrey who I mention in this space simply because they have roster spots as of today. And don’t forget about Darren Sproles, who’s still lingering in free agency.

Eagles lead the way for NFL and area workplaces in ‘going green’ - Philly.com
The Philadelphia Eagles take ‘bleeding green’ so seriously, they lead the NFL in solar energy production, promote sustainability, and gave birth to the modern movement of green professional sports.

Bucs remake their defensive line - Bucs Nation
In are reserve defensive tackle Beau Allen, DE/DT Mitch Unrein, and now pressure-generator defensive end Vinny Curry. Allen and Curry were two of the Top 6 2-deep players on the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2nd ranked defensive line and from a defense that ranked 3rd vs the rush and led the NFL in defensive pressures. Yes, the Bucs don’t have Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, or Timmy Jernigan. But what they do have now is quality depth without sacrificing size.

2018 NFL Draft: quarterback race is on as New York Jets trade up to number three - Buffalo Rumblings
The New York Giants are now in control of the draft at the number two pick. They can sit tight and take their guy or demand a king’s ransom to move ahead of their cross-stadium rivals. The very real possibility exists that Buffalo might not be able to get any of the players they covet the most at the most important position on the field. [BLG Question: Does this deal open the possibility of a Nick Foles trade to Buffalo?]

Does the Jets trade impact the Giants’ draft plans? - Big Blue View
With the Jets almost certainly moving up to draft a quarterback, the question for us is how might the trade effect the New York Giants draft? The easiest answer is “it doesn’t.” If the Giants have their sights set on an elite talent and he isn’t selected by the Cleveland Browns, they can still go ahead and take him without regard for the Jets. But from there, things start to get a bit murky. The Jets’ trade could create a market for the Browns’ number one overall pick, particularly if a team such as the Denver Broncos decides that they and the Giants have their eye on the same quarterback.

Report: Cowboys set to release Orlando Scandrick - Blogging The Boys
It’s been a long week for Orlando Scandrick. When NFL free agency was getting going at astronomical levels, he took to Instagram and posted that it “sure would be nice” to be released from the Cowboys. That was the implication anyway. Four days later, Orlando got his wish. ESPN’s Josina Anderson has reported that the Cowboys are set to release the 10-year cornerback.

Colts Have Released DT Johnathan Hankins - Stampede Blue
The move is more than a little puzzling because it seems that there might have been a market to move Hankins in a trade, but there have been no reports that the Colts attempted to move him that way. As one of the Colts’ more reliable defenders across the beleaguered defense last season, cutting him loose without a clear replacement in place is a major surprise. While the move itself is a bit confusing, the timing is not. Hankins was set to have $4.5 million in guarantees take effect tomorrow. [BLG Note: The Eagles reportedly showed some interest in Hankins last offseason.]

The Patriots Have a Hole at the NFL’s Second-Most Important Position - The Ringer
Tom Brady has played primarily with only two left tackles throughout his career, but now Nate Solder is leaving in free agency and New England’s succession plan is murky

LeGarrette Blount signs with the Lions. Can he help fix their running back problem? - SB Nation
The bruising running back just keeps trucking people and winning Super Bowls.
