Colts expected to interview Eagles’ Frank Reich, report says

Eagles losing some coaches?

In case you missed it while you were busy celebrating the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, Patriots Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels unexpectedly backed out of the Indianapolis Colts’ head coaching job at the very last minute on Monday. And so the Colts are still looking for someone to fill that key role.

Philadelphia offensive coordinator Frank Reich might be the guy the Colts hire. According to one report, Indianapolis has interest in him.

Given the Eagles’ offensive success, it’s no surprise that Reich is drawing interest. He had a role in helping head coach Doug Pederson prepare gameplans on a weekly basis.

Losing a member of a Super Bowl coaching staff doesn’t seem ideal, but Reich leaving could open up a spot for Eagles quarterback coach John DeFilippo to stay. The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly interested in interviewing Flip for their vacant offensive coordinator job, but they must wait until 10 days after the Super Bowl to do so. If Reich leaves, the Eagles can try to keep Flip by promoting him to Reich’s old job. The only thing about that is he wouldn’t be calling plays in Philadelphia, unlike he would be if he accepts the Vikings job.

We’ll see how things shake out. For now, something to keep an eye on.
