2016 NFL Combine: Eagles fans should pay close attention to quarterback drills

For more information on the 2016 Nfl Combine, (read here).

It's time for the second day of 2016 NFL Combine on-field drills. The following position groups are scheduled to work out: quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends. The action starts at 9 AM EST and will be aired on NFL Network. Click here for a full list of the workouts and combine participants. The Philadelphia Eagles could certainly show some interest in these positions, especially QB.

Quarterback

[Eagles Position Review]

Head coach Doug Pederson has hinted several times that the team could be interested in drafting a young quarterback. Even if the Eagles bring back Sam Bradford, they can't afford to put all their eggs in one basket. Another option for the Birds is drafting a rookie passer to sit and develop behind a bridge quarterback such as Chase Daniel.

1) Carson Wentz, North Dakota State
2) Jared Goff, California
3) Paxton Lynch, Memphis
4) Connor Cook, Michigan State
5) Dak Prescott, Mississippi State

Wide Receiver

[Eagles Position Review]

Wide receiver is a tricky position for the Birds. The team's pass catchers mightily struggled to catch passes in 2015. The team currently lacks proven depth at the receiver position but they do have some young talents with potential. Jordan Matthews is a good player. 2015 first round pick Nelson Agholor has a lot of ground to make up after a disappointing rookie season. Josh Huff has flashed at times but he's been a non-factor more often than not. The Eagles have invested so many draft resources in the receiver position in recent years that it's almost hard to see them doing it again, but it can't be ruled out completely.

Mike Mayock's Top Receivers

1. Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss
2. Corey Coleman, Baylor
3. Michael Thomas, Ohio State
4. Josh Doctson, TCU
5. Will Fuller, Notre Dame

Tight End

[Eagles Position Review]

The Eagles are pretty set at tight end after giving both Zach Ertz and Brent Celek contract extensions this offseason. Trey Burton figures in as the team's third string guy. The Eagles might look to add some depth at tight end in undrafted free agency.

Mike Mayock's Top Tight Ends

1. Hunter Henry, Arkansas
2. Austin Hooper, Stanford
3. Jerrell Adams, South Carolina
4. Nick Vannett, Ohio State
5. Henry Krieger Coble, Iowa
