Eagles will have to wait until Christmas to clinch home field advantage

Thanks for nothing, Packers.

The Philadelphia Eagles did NOT clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture on Saturday night. All that talk of potentially resting starters in Week 16 is moot.

The Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers in an ugly game at Lambeau Field in order to keep Minnesota’s home Field Advantage hopes alive. Considering the Vikes entered the game as nine-point favorites, this outcome was hardly a surprise.

Now it’s up to the Eagles to clinch the No. 1 seed by defeating the Oakland Raiders in Philadelphia on Monday night. The Birds are currently favored by nine points on Christmas.

It wouldn’t have been terrible if the Vikings lost and the Eagles had two meaningless games to end the 2017 season. But now Philadelphia has an opportunity to celebrate clinching the No. 1 seed if they can take care of business on Monday night. It’ll be a great Christmas present to all the Eagles fans out there.
