One Giants player really thinks New York can go undefeated this season

Good luck with that, JPP.

Leave it to Jason Pierre-Paul to make explosive comments about the outlook of the New York Giants this year.

We’re still a few weeks away from the first preseason game, but JPP is already talking about Super Bowl aspirations.

“I think the key is we added a lot of guys and people are like ‘Wow, this year has to be a team that goes to a Super Bowl this year,’ ’’ Pierre-Paul said Thursday night at a charity gala in Brooklyn. “But it’s all about the hard work.”

OK, so a player thinks his team is a Super Bowl contender. He’s probably wrong, but that’s not entirely unreasonable.

Oh, wait, what’s that? Jpp Thinks the Giants can go ... 16-0?

“I feel with the players we have, as long as we work together we’ll be undefeated,’’ he said. “Nobody can defeat you when you’re all working together as one.’’

Man. The Cowboys have been getting over-hyped given the fact they won the division last year, which makes sense, but the Giants aren’t too far behind in that respect.

New York overachieved to go 11-5 last season. This was a team that had an expected win total of 8.8 games due to owning the league’s 12th best point differential. I’m not saying the Giants were bad, but they were much closer to being average than they were among the NFL’s elite teams.

Look no further than how the G-Men got exposed in the first round of the playoffs last year. The Packers boat-raced the Giants as Aaron Rodgers dominated that vaunted New York defense. Big Blue lost by a final score of 38-13.

JPP thinks the game would have been entirely different if he played, though.

“It probably would have made a big, big difference,’’ he said. “Not to be cocky, but if I was there it would have been a totally different ballgame. Everybody knows that.’’

Lol.

‘Not to be cocky, but my presence alone would have prevented us from losing by 25 points.’

Sure thing, JPP.

I’m sure none of these comments will come back to haunt you this season.
