What is happening.
So, something really freaking weird is happening in the Eagles-Vikings game in Philadelphia this afternoon: neither team wants the Ball.
Look at ESPN’s game log. These drives all came consecutively:
First, Carson Wentz Threw an interception in his own red zone on an ill-fated ball towards Brent Celek. It was a little high, and it might have deflected off a hand, but it was just a bad decision from Wentz.
Then the Vikings took over from the three-yard line, but after a holding penalty, a tremendous Pass Rush from Brandon Graham forced our old friend Sam Bradford into an awful throw, which was intercepted by Rodney McLeod.
On the ensuing possession, the Eagles picked up one first down before Darren Sproles fumbled a handoff, which the Vikings picked up in Eagles territory.
And THEN, another great pass rush, this time from Connor Barwin, forced the ball out of Bradford’s hands, recovered by Malcolm Jenkins. Jenkins returned the ball for a touchdown, but after a review, it was determined he was down by contact.
And THEN (out of breath yet?), Carson Wentz threw his worst pass of the season, an awful toss over the middle in the middle of three Vikings defenders, which was intercepted.
All of this happened in nine minutes and 39 seconds.
The game of football is deteriorating before our very eyes.
