Manchester United have opened talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic about a new contract.

That’s according to Sky Italy, where the Swede has also been linked with a return to AC Milan.

Ibrahimovic is working his way back from April knee surgery and believes he can be playing again in October.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio reports United have held talks with Ibra’s agent, Mino Raiola, about a new contract.

The approach is only at an initial stage, but negotiations are now open about the centre-forward re-signing for United this new season.

“He is closer to us than to other clubs,” Mourinho said of Ibrahimovic on Monday.
