Paul Pogba has hit out at his critics, and dismissed negative comparisons with countryman N’Golo Kante.
Pogba has come in for criticism in his debut season at Manchester United after joining for a world-record fee of £89.3million in the summer.
The Frenchman has scored just four goals and assisted a further three in 27 Premier League appearances, and some believe he concentrates too much on off-field matters.
The 24-year-old is understandably annoyed with the scrutiny he faces when he has a bloody haircut.
“Kante is a top class midfielder but he doesn’t score many goals but they don’t talk about this. He gets the ball, he passes the ball,” he told Sky Sports.
“I try to do this in my team. I score more goals than Kante but they still say that Pogba does this and that.
“If you want to talk about judging midfielders on goals then let’s do that. But they focus on the transfer. The transfer is done, we have to talk about what’s on the pitch.
“I love to play with pressure. It’s no problem. It’s fine for me.
“If they want to talk about me, they can talk about me. But they can’t compare an emoji, a haircut with football.
“When I’m playing I give my best, I give everything. It’s not like I want to score an own goal. I want to win every match. When I lose a game I’m not doing videos and dancing.
“But after the game is finished, you have to smile, you have to laugh. You can’t think about the pitch.”
