UGA has officially announced April 17th as the date of the 2021 G-Day Game, which means the start of Spring Practice in Athens is a little less than month away. To get ourselves and you ready for spring ball, we will be doing a preview of each position group on our new video show, Dawg Sports Live.

We kicked off our Spring Position Previews by taking a look at Georgia’s quarterback room on Sunday night.

Obviously JT Daniels is entrenched as the starter. His insertion into the starting lineup sprung the Bulldogs to a furious finish in 2020, capping off the season with a comeback win over undefeated Cincinnati in the Peach Bowl. In Daniels, Georgia has its most stable presence under center at any time in the Kirby Smart Era. His talent is immense, but there’s a few things he could clean up as well.

The difference between another 10-2 season in Athens and a national title run could hinge upon whether or not Daniels can clean up his footwork and pocket awareness. We discussed Daniels’ tendency to under throw the deep ball and his unwillingness at times to get rid of the ball when the pocket is collapsing on him. Fixing that will be priority one for Todd Monken this offseason.

Also worth paying attention to is the battle for the backup quarterback spot. Stetson Bennett IV returns, and while he’s likely not part of Georgia’s plans for 2021, he also wasn’t part of Georgia’s plans in 2020. Having a backup with major SEC starting experience is a luxury that few programs in the league will ever have.

Can Bennett IV hold off talented youngsters Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff? We tell you why Beck has a major leg up on beating out Vandagriff this spring and giving himself the inside track on the starting job in 2022. We also ask ourselves what it means for the future of the program if neither Beck or Vandagriff can beat out Bennett IV by the time the regular season rolls around.

As always, we give you plenty of great highlights to look at while we discuss the UGA quarterback room, and you’ll be able to see for yourself where Daniels excels and struggles.

We hope y’all enjoy the show, and it would mean a ton to us if you would hit the like button on this video and subscribe to our YouTube channel, Dawg Sports Live.
