‘Dawgs go to South Florida to sign another blue chip tailback

Yeah, but when has signing running backs from the Sunshine State ever worked out?

Kirby Smart’s search for a marquee tailback for the class of 2019 is complete, as Fort Lauderdale (University School) Running back Kenny McIntosh announced his intention this morning to matriculate the ball down the field in Athens.

McIntosh, a four star recruit and the #10 tailback in the nation per 247Sports, chose the ‘Dawgs over fellow finalists Oklahoma and Miami. The 6’1, 218 pound senior also claimed offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

McIntosh, as you would expect given his size, has the ability to run through contact, something the Bulldog coaches prize. But University has also made use of his solid hands out of the backfield as well. KMac (TM) also has excellent vision in the open field and has been a weapon returning kicks for the Sharks.

McIntosh’s older brother RJ is currently a rookie Defensive Tackle with the New York Giants following a successful career at Miami. His brother Deon, a running back, transferred this season to East Mississippi Community College after leaving Notre Dame.

McIntosh’s pledge keeps the Classic City Canines third in 247Sports’ composite rankings behind fellow SEC schools Alabama and Texas A&M as we enter the stretch run before the early National Signing Day in December. It is worth noting however that both the Tide (21) and Aggies (24) have more players on the board at this stage than the ‘Dawgs (18). With a good close, Coach Smart may well defend his recruiting national title in 2019.

Is Georgia done at running back for the class of 2019? It’s too early to tell. Depending on how things look at a few other spots (defensive back, inside linebacker, and defensive tackle for instance) the Red and Black May have one more scholarship to extend to a ball carrier. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
