MVDs: Most Valuable ‘Dawgs.

A look at the top players and moments from Georgia’s 31-10 win over App. State

It was a total team effort in Athens as the Georgia Bulldogs defeated Appalachian State 31-10. But as usual some Bulldogs were more equal than others. This is our instant estimate of which ‘Dawgs made the biggest impact on the night.

Offense: Nick Chubb. Sure, everyone is talking about Jake Fromm. And they should. He played within himself, didn’t let his mistakes make him hesitant, and generally showed why coaches have been excited about him since this spring.

Defense: Trenton Thompson. I was tempted to go with Richard Lecounte, because that guy was everywhere. But I went with Thompson because he spent the whole night in one place: the Mountaineer backfield. Big Trent had six total tackles, two tackles for loss, and just generally disrupted the App. State attack from the inside out. We’re going to need a lot more of that.

Play of the Day: Fromm to Wims for the touchdown.

Fromm completed a nice pass over the middle to Isaac Nauta on his first throw and zipped a pretty out route to Mecole Hardman on his second. But it was his off balance throw to Wims that seemed to settle the freshman down and get the Bulldog fans on their feet. Here’s hoping there’s more where that came from.

Low light: Whatever Brice Ramsey was doing. One gets the sense that if, Heaven help us, both Eason and Fromm went down, the Stetson Bennett era might commence with a quickness.

Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
