Best time to visit teams in the NFC West
Since the release of the 2018-19 NFL schedule, fans around the world have been daydreaming about taking a trip to the USA to see their team play. We decided to take it a step further, scouring the schedules of all 32 NFL teams to find the best time for travellers who want to see their team play multiple games.
Considering the average overseas trip duration (by Australians) is 14.5 days – roughly two weeks – we worked out the best stretch of games for die-hards who want to see their team as much as possible during an average overseas trip.
So, here’s how you can see your team play 3 times in 2 weeks.
We recently did this for NFC East teams. This week we’re focusing on teams in the NFC West.
San Francisco 49ers: December 16th to December 30th
Ready for an epic two-week trip, Niners fans? Prepare to spend some quality time discovering the very best California has to offer, from San Francisco’s food and wine scene, to Los Angeles’ Hollywood chic.
Book your return flights to either San Francisco or Los Angeles, but make sure you’re in San Francisco by December 16 for the 49ers’ massive Week 15 divisional matchup with the Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium. Take the week to check out some of San Francisco’s best sites, treat yourself to a wine tour of the Napa Valley or head across the bay to check out the Golden State Warriors, but make sure you’re back in town when your team hosts the Bears on Dec. 23.
Then make your way to Hollywood, taking in all it has to offer before the December 30 clash with the Rams at one of the NFL’s most iconic stadiums, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Consider California done!
LA Rams: December 2nd to December 16th
Rams fans, how does visiting three iconic cities in two weeks sound? Pretty good, right? How about watching the Rams in three iconic U.S. cities in two weeks?
The Rams will embark on a swing through the Midwest come early December, meaning you can see your team in Detroit at Ford Field in Week 13, in Chicago at Soldier Field in Week 14, and at home against the reigning Super Bowl champs in Week 15 all before you fly home.
The beauty of this itinerary is that you still book your return flights to Los Angeles, you just book another couple of cheap internal flights (or a bus from Detroit to Chicago) to get to the road games.
Of course, we could have pointed you in the direction of the three home games between Sept. 16 and Sept. 27 (which is another option), but knocking off three different stadiums in three of America’s coolest cities is a no-brainer!
Seattle Seahawks: December 2nd to December 16th
Need to convince your partner before you duck off to the States to watch your NFL team three times in two weeks? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
How’s this for a sell? Book return flights to San Francisco and a set of return flights to Seattle. Watch the Seahawks take on the 49ers at CenturyLink Field in Week 13, before taking quick break up to Vancouver (or down to Portland?).
Then return to Seattle, but watch the Seahawks host the Vikings in Week 14 before your flight back to San Francisco – where you’ll spend a week taking in the sights before watching the Seahawks on the road at Levi’s Stadium.
Three games, two weeks, three epic cities. Holiday = sorted!
Arizona Cardinals: September 16th to September 30th
A two-week trip the States with minimal travel and three games of football? You’re in luck, Cards fans!
Fly return to Los Angeles in time to watch your side take on the Rams in Los Angeles in Week 2. Then, take your time, check out the sites of SoCal, but make sure you jump on a plane to Phoenix before the Week 3 clash with the Bears at home.
Then spend some time exploring the nearby desert and the surrounding national parks (or take a cheeky trip up to Vegas?), before returning to the University of Phoenix Stadium for a second home game – a huge divisional clash with the Seahawks in Week 4.
Following that, jump on a plane back to Los Angeles and head home content in the knowledge you’ve seen the sights – and your side three times in just two weeks!
