Durometer

There are two scales of a durometer that measures the hardness of the wheel of the skateboard. A scale which goes from 1 to 100 while the B goes from 1 to 80 only.

Here are some main categories of hardness that can be helpful while choosing a skateboard:

  1. +78A-87A: best for the beginners as they have soft wheels. Beginners can use it on hills or hard surfaces.
  2. +88A-95A: the grip is looser than the previous. And they are harder. You can skateboard faster with these wheels. Both on smooth and rough surfaces.
  3. +96A-99A: the most popular and hardest wheels. Extremely versatile and efficient in performance. They can be used anywhere. E.g., skate parks, pools, streets, etc.
  4. +101A+: as obvious, for the pros. These are the wheels anyone would desire for. Fastest, hardest, and most efficient.

It is very important to choose the skateboard wisely according to the state you are in.
