The Pittsburgh Penguins are the 2015-16 Stanley Cup Champions.
The game was very tight (again) and Jones was amazing for the Sharks (again). But, in the end, the Penguins were just too much to handle.

Appropriately, Letang scored the game-winner on an assist by Crosby. The two led the Penguins throughout the playoffs.
From there, the Penguins cruised to their Cup-winning finish.

A couple of notes on reading the charts:
- the Corsi differential is based on 5v5 play and is score-adjusted, as per war-on-ice.
- players at the top (with bars extending to the right) posted positive differentials (good)
- players at the bottom (and to the left) posted negative differentials (bad)
- the colour of each bar represents the player’s time on ice (see legend at the bottom)
- each players individual Corsi For attempts are included in parentheses
- a player with a strong C +/- but a (0) for iCF didn’t directly contribute to his strong showing.
- a player with a weak C +/- but a strong iCF score (i.e. greater than 5) may have been hindered by linemates. Maybe.
- like any reasonable person, I don’t believe that Corsi is everything. But it’s a very important part of the everything.
On to the chart…
Sheary led all and was followed closely by Letang. Dumoulin, Crosby, and Malkin were strong as well. For the Sharks, only Nieto and Vlasic finished with positive Corsi differentials.
At the other end, Paul Martin was by far the game’s worst. He finished with a Corsi Differential of -20. That’s Girardi bad. All but two Sharks found their way onto the negative side of this chart.
Crosby led all with 10 iCF, dominating the puck and generating many chances. Burns was next highest with 9 iCF. Again, Burns finished as a negative despite a strong individual Corsi total.
Penguins win the Stanley Cup.

Letang and Dumoulin were untouchable all series long. Malkin’s puck play was great and the Penguins dominated the positive side of the Corsi differential battle for the series. Only Joe Thornton and Tomas Hertl managed positive totals for the Sharks.
At the negative end, a couple of former Leafs stunk – Polak and Spaling were near the bottom of the series chart. Karlsson, Martin, Dillon, and Tierney (ugh) were amongst the worst.
The Penguins won the Cup by dominating the puck and launching everything on net that they could. Should be exciting when the copycat NHL tries to emulate this style of play next year.
