Chandler Kelley is one of the better played on the Hurricane High baseball team. He transferred to Hurricane in the 9th grade. Previously, Kelley was a student athlete at Milton. He played football, basketball and baseball for Milton Middle. PBR and perfect game rank him the #1 middle infielder in the state. Now he is a highly recruited high school baseball player who has a bright future. Let's get to know Chandler Kelley a little bit better.
Q: After a tough loss to Nitro in the regional finals last season. How do you think your team will bounce back?
A: Good. We return 8 starters and we have strong team chemistry.
Q: You attend a ton of camps and tourneys. How beneficial are those camps and tournaments you attend?
A: They are both very good things to get into. The main goal is to get on the "radar" and the camps will do that for you.
Q: Would you recommend camps for high school ball players looking to play at the next level?
A: Yes. Try to stay away from specific school camps unless you really want to play there. Find showcases where multiple college coaches will be at.
Q: In your career at Hurricane High, you have played alongside a ton of good ball players. Who is the most talented guy you have played with?
A: Trey Dawson, he's not just good he's great and makes the other guys around him better.
Q: What does playing for Hurricane baseball mean to you?
A: It means so much. Hurricane has always had a good reputation when it comes to winning games and sending players to the next level!
Q: When you came to Hurricane from Milton (Cabell Midland) how hard was it? Why did you transfer?
A: It wasn't as hard as one would think. The main reason was that my mom teaches at Hurricane. The second reason is that the baseball program is so good and I felt it was a perfect fit for me. I'm happy I came to Hurricane.
That was our little question and answer with Chandler Kelley. Like I said, the kid has potential and a very very bright future. He has been going to a lot of showcases and is for sure already on college coaches radars. We are already looking forward to watching him at the next level.
