Igloofest 2016: What You Need To Wear To Stay Warm & Dance The Night Away

The weekends of January are often the coldest of the year. However, it won’t stop Montrealers in their craziness to go hang out next to the St-Lawrence and dance all night. For the past 10 years, Igloofest has been a winter’s highlight in Montreal. You’ll find the best DJs and the best ambiance of the whole Old-Montreal area.

To really appreciate the event, you need to wear the appropriate attire. We don’t know about you, but dancing at -23C with frozen feet and hands might not be the best idea of a great night. Here are some suggestions of clothing you can actually wear and look good in – that will make you forget it’s even winter.

To begin, Igloofest is the perfect occasion to be a little wild and go all out regarding outfits. We tried to choose clothes and accessories that were mostly on the funky side. One of the most important items on your list: a hat. We strongly recommend the Patagonia Powder Town for its great color selection and its recycled polyester material. For the scarf, the classic Fjällräven’s Lapplan will keep you warm and cozy, while the WesC’s Norty unisex mitts will keep your hands safe from the elements.

For the coats, The North Face got you covered and gives you the best of both worlds: warmth + retro style, with the Wanda for women and the Dubs for men. Next up, maximise the insulation with a nice merino wool first layer, made by the merino kings, Icebreaker.

Keep your legs warm with insulated pants: Mountain Hardwear’s Returnia and Marmot’s Motion are perfect. To end: your feet. Keep them toasty with a great pair of socks, like the Wigwam’s Unisex Snow Hellion Pro. The meriono wool and nylon blend will regulate the heat evenly and assure a good dose of comfort. Inside a nice pair of classic Sorel boots, like the Caribou Wool or the regular women’s Caribou, you will feel like you’re wearing slippers in front of a fireplace.

Complete the look with a winner accessory: skiing goggles. The VonZipper’s Cleaver will give you a cool style while protecting your eyes from the wind – especially if you’re a wild one and like to do things like bodysurfing… And for those who are just always cold, we thought of you with the Hot Shots – that will keep your hands and feets ultra-warm from the beginning until the end of the party.

So… I guess we’ll see you on the dance floor?
