Led by eight-time Big South Coach of the Year Gary Gilmore, Coastal Carolina finished last season with a 55-18 record, capped off by a dramatic 4-3 win over the Arizona Wildcats in the deciding Game 3 of the CWS. The Chanticleers won all six elimination games they faced on their way to the 2016 title.

As no stranger to success, Gilmore – who was named the 2016 National Coach of the Year – is in his 28th year as a head coach, ranking among the NCAA’s all-time top 35 in wins with 1,100. Under his guidance the Chanticleers have made 14 NCAA berths and advanced to three Super Regional to go along with their 2016 NCAA College World Series title

Over the last nine years, Gilmore has had 16 players drafted within the top 10 rounds and built one of the best practice and playing facilities in the nation.

Coastal Carolina begins the year as the preseason No. 11 ranked team according to the D1Baseball.com preseason poll, alongside the other two DK Premier Partners, Vanderbilt at No. 7 and Louisville at No. 12.
