Today Ghana has lost a highlife legend, Daasebre Gyamena and all the Ghanaians have been lamenting his death, likewise Ghanaian hiplife artist, Okyeame Kwame also paid tribute to him by saying that Daasebre Gyamena spared his music career as he did not dither to stare on his track “Kokoko”.
Okyeame Kwame was exclusively interviewed by the media, where he said that he chose to feature Daasebre Gyamena on his track on the grounds that the highlife artist was the most talented artist in Ghana at the time.
While speaking to the host, Okyeame said, ‘I have known Daasebre before the two of us got to be famous. Ace music producer, Mark Okraku used to oversee Lord Kenya, Akyeame and Daasebre. I am talking about that time when he was recording the song ‘Kokooko’ in the studios’.
Moreover, the hiplife artists also shared the story that how Daasebre reawakened his dead music career by saying that, ‘Back in the year 2003, when I came back from the USA, my music career was almost dead and Daasebre acted like a hero. I called him for a favor because he was one of the most successful highlife artists in Ghana, at that time. When I got to the studio, he had been there for two hours sitting tight for me’.
Okyeame Kwame said hat he will always remember my role model, Daasebre Gyamena for his modesty and composing abilities.
