Charlie Nicholas believes Tottenham Hotspur’s form without Harry Kane will give the Lilywhites squad great belief in the Premier League title race.
The north London side were 2-0 winners against Manchester City at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon thanks to Aleksandar Kolarov’s own goal and Dele Alli’s first Premier League goal of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won their last three games in all competitions after victories over Middlesbrough, CSKA Moscow and Manchester City.
Former Arsenal forward Nicholas hailed Tottenham’s performance against the Premier League leaders as the best of the weekend ahead of the international break.
“It was the performance of the weekend. Mauricio Pochettino’s side were at it right from the first whistle, they squeezed City and forced them into situations where their defence looked nervous,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“You could see the panic in Aleksandar Kolarov’s face for his own goal. It was a first-class display and must give them even greater belief considering they were missing Harry Kane.”
Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League Table and a point behind Manchester City following Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Lilywhites will make the trip to West Bromwich Albion in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday 15 October.
Spurs finished in third place in the Premier League table last season after challenging champions Leicester City for much of the 2016-17 season.
