Rio Ferdinand has taken to social media to hail Manchester United’s signing of Paul Pogba on Tuesday.
The Red Devils confirmed that they had agreed a deal to bring the France midfielder back to the club he first left in 2012.
Pogba has signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils and will now set out to prove himself to new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
Ferdinand was Pogba’s team-mate during the midfielder’s first spell at the club – and the former England defender is backing him to have a big impact at United in the seasons to come.
Writing in a post on his Facebook page, Ferdinand said: “From the first moment he came through the doors of the treatment room (where players got strappings before training) I sensed there was something different about the kid.
“His stature on the pitch made him immediately stand out, but he passed gracefully over all distances and had feet like a ballerina with a ball at his feet and he could score goals from outside the box, too.
“United need to build around a group of young hungry players like Martial, Lingard, Rashford and Pogba is the one to lead that group from the front – the only way he would want it.”
