Jose Mourinho Hits Back At Arsenal And Liverpool Bosses

Jose Mourinho has aimed a thinly-veiled dig at Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp after Manchester United completed the signing of Paul Pogba on Tuesday.

The Red Devils finally announced the capture of the France midfielder on a five-year deal on Tuesday morning after months of speculation linking him with a return to Old Trafford.

Arsenal boss Wenger labelled United’s willingness to pay such a big transfer fee for Pogba as “completely crazy” in the days leading up to the deal, while Liverpool manager Klopp was also critical of the size of the fee.

However, Mourinho has hit back at his Premier League rivals by declaring that the pair will never have the chance to break the world transfer record because they are not at “top clubs”.

Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Mourinho said: “I understand that sometimes in football these things happen that the club [must] break the record.

“But this is only possible at clubs like Manchester United.

“When I heard some of the comments and some of the managers criticising that, I don’t think they will ever have this problem, because to have this problem you need to be at one of the top clubs in the world – and at Manchester United this can happen.”

United are now gearing up for their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon as they look to get their season off to a winning start.
