Frank Lampard reserved special praise for Chelsea FC midfielders Mateo Kovavic and Jorginho after Saturday evening’s 4-2 victory at Burnley.
United States international Christian Pulisic stole the plaudits with his hat-trick at Turf Moor following a slow start to his Chelsea FC career.
Pulisic scored the perfect hat-trick to put the west London side in charge before Willian netted in the second half to secure three points.
However, Burnley did manage to halve the deficit thanks to late consolation goals from Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil.
Chelsea FC were able to get a stranglehold on the Premier League clash thanks to the dominance of Jorginho and Kovavic in the middle of the park.
Blues manager Lampard was full of praise for his midfield generals after their fourth Premier League win under the club legend.
“Absolutely delighted [with the performance] I’d be the first to criticise sloppy endings and sloppy goals but I can’t today because I don’t want to take away from what the performance was, which was fantastic,” Lampard told his post-match media conference at Turf Moor.
“It’s a really tough place to come, we knew all the threats, how difficult they make it for you.
“Some of the play, some of the football, I’m sure we’ll talk about Christian [Pulisic], but [Mateo] Kovacic and Jorginho in midfield, their confidence on the ball, receiving the ball with pressure coming, the way they played. I’m delighted with 95% and that’s enough for me, I’m really pleased.”
Chelsea FC moved level on points with third-placed Leicester City following their 4-2 victory over Burnley.
The Blues are in fourth spot in the Premier League table with a cushion over Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Lampard took over the reins of the west London side from Maurizio Sarri in the summer.
The Chelsea FC record goal-scorer had a year of football management at Derby County under his belt before he replaced Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
